James “Jimmie” Askew
Jimmie graduated from Santa Barbara College of Law in 1999 and has been an attorney for over 20 years. He has tried over 60 jury trials, and has personally handled and negotiated thousand’s of criminal cases; from misdemeanors to serious three-strike felonies, including homicides.
A highly respected attorney, Jimmie worked in Shasta County as a Deputy Public Defender where he handled the DUI cases and trained new misdemeanor attorneys. While working for the Public Defender’s office, he won more NOT GUILTY verdicts on DUI cases than any other criminal defense attorney in the county for three years straight.
Todd Lee Carpenter
Todd lived in the United Kingdom for twenty years and investigated complex financial frauds on behalf of AIG Europe. He sat on the UK governments’ Air Travel Insolvency Protection Advisory Committee. He was involved in multiple consultations on the UK and European Consumer Protection, Fraud, and Travel Laws.
He holds insurance licenses for all 50 states in writing Property and Casualty lines as well as Health Life and Annuities.
He joins Tri Counties Criminal Defense as our paralegal and office manager.
Kari Lee Rayborn
Kari graduated in 1999 from the Ventura College of Law and won numerous awards at Law School including the prestigious AM JUR awards in Criminal Justice and Contracts. And she was also awarded the coveted Corpus Juris Secundum Award in Contracts and the Sui Generis Award which was awarded to her by her peers. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class!
Kari has done numerous administrative hearings in her tenure as an attorney. She started her career working for the ex-Mayor of Oxnard CA doing worker’s compensation hearings. She knows what it takes to win hearings.
She also has a Master’s Degree (Master of Arts) from Webster University.
Kari is a caring mother of three with the youngest being 12 years old.
